Portraiture Checklist

Initial Composition Checklist

  1. Engage or observe
  2. Subject or Scene
  3. Dead centre is dead”, Portrait or landscape
  4. Check your frame
  5. “Know your subject”

Initial Technical Checklist

  1. Have a composition in mind
  2. Choose your lens and film (ISO etc)
  3. Choose your shutter/Aperture combination
  4. Control the light (Reflect and fill)
  5. Camera parallel, horizontals and verticals

Initial Studio Checklist

  1. Distance to subject to background (Aperture selection and focus)
  2. Check the key light (Adjust for correct aperture)
  3. Check the fill lighting and ratio (reflected or lit)
  4. Check all equipment and test where possible
  5. Forget the technical stuff and concentrate on the subject.
