Choosing a Wedding Photographer
Top 10 Wedding Photography Tips to choosing your wedding photographer (Tips 1-3).
1. Suss your photographer out!
One of the biggest tips I can give brides is to get to know your wedding photographer. The initial meeting with the wedding photographer is a good indication of whether your wedding photographer is going to make or break the mood of your wedding. Look for the signs! Are they open-minded, easy going, open to suggestions, reliable, organised. The last thing you want is a “General” dictating at your wedding and upsetting the guests. Don’t be fooled! They do exist.
2. Ask your photographer for full rights of the images!
A lot of newly weds incur massive additional charges after their wedding because they don’t have reproduction rights to their own wedding images. My advice would be to discuss the possibility of having a DVD with full resolution images with your photographer. This may come as an additional charge but in the long run, this will save you 100s of euro. Wedding photos are always a great idea to give guests as presents for many year after the wedding, so keep this in mind.
3. Don’t spend all day with the photographer!
Once the ceremony is over, there is no need to spend hours with the wedding party taking photographs. I would suggests 15-20 mins with both sides of the family and 15-20 mins alone as a couple. If you have chosen a good photographer, he/she will already know the best locations for your wedding photographs. This gives you enough time to go back to the wedding reception and enjoy a quick drink with the guests before the meal.
