It comes as no surprise that a lot of brides are nervous about the taking of the wedding photographs. Here are some tips I have put together to make you more comfortable in front of the camera.
1. How to stand for Wedding Photographs
It’s up to the photographer to direct the bride & groom on how to position their body in wedding photographs. Unfortunately though, not all photographers are good at getting their point across.
Fear not, I have a solution! If you are in this situation and you really have no clue how to present yourself in wedding photographs, the best pose is to stand side on to the photographer and rotate your body towards him. This give a very flattering shape to the bride. This pose shortens the appearance of the waist line and gives the photographer partial view of the back and front of the dress. You’ve spent months and months picking out the dress – you want to show it off !
2. What is your good side?
“Get my good side!”. Well surprise, surprise everyone has a “good” side when it comes to wedding photographs. Firstly, all of us presume that our face is perfectly symmetric. The truth is, very very few people have a perfectly symmetrical face. The main feature of the face that affects symmetry is the nose. Usually, an individuals nose will angle slightly to one side. I know mine does! The way we compensate for this is by moving the head slightly in the opposite direction. Have a look in the mirror when you have a chance. Is your nose pointing slight in one direction? Well is so, rotate your head ever so slightly in the opposite direction. This is your “good side” and this small change will make your face appear more symmetric in wedding photographs.
3. Don’t breathe in, breathe out.
Well we all want to appear thinner in photos – especially after a big meal!. A lot of people think that taking a deep breath and sucking the belly in will make you appear smaller in the waist line. Unfortunately though it doesn’t, because what usually happens is that your lungs fill with air, your chest expands and you actually appear bigger. The idea is to exhale and expel all of the air from your lungs. This makes the chest and waist area a lot smaller.
Well there you have it! Some wee pointers for the big day. Stay tuned to my blog and I will post more tips and tricks for making your wedding the best day ever ….ever…..ever!
